St Xaviers College introducing a four year B.Ed course so that students can take up this course after clearing the class XII. This college is likely to be the first institution in West Bengal which is offering this course. At present students are required to complete graduation before applying for B.Ed.
Father Dominic Savio, the principal of St Xavier's College, declared, “The new integrated teacher training programme will be introduced in 2020 comprising two streams — Arts and Science.”
The programme will be called B.Ed(BA) in Arts and the other one will be called B.Ed(BSc) in Science.
