BJP led Assam Government will release the final installment of National Register of Citizens(NRC) tomorrow, on the eve of the release of the “Final” NRC in Assam, Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, also a prominent BJP leader in Northeast quipped that BJP has been treating this NRC programme as a routine work and not a National Document and people excluded in the list will not be considered Indians nor foreigners, Tribunal will follow its course of action.
However notable thing brought up by Mr.Sarma is that on the earlier Drafts only 6% of the population of South Salmara and Dhubri districts were excluded inspite of these Districts being Bangladesh bordering Muslim dominated areas in contrast to 16% exclusion of tribal belts in Karbi Anglong. He suggested that a different or additional mechanism needs to be implemented to "identify and expel foreigners”.
