Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Thursday left for India on his first official overseas visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed his brother Mahinda Rajapaksa as prime minister of Sri Lanka. Modi also invited him to visit India. In a tweet, before leaving for New Delhi, Rajapaksa said he was looking forward to strengthening bilateral relations with India.
"Leaving for my first state visit to India and looking
forward to strengthening bilateral relations with Shri Narendra Modi and Govt
of India," he said.
